Care For Your Leathers After an afternoon on a loose cushion track, your leathers have done their job even if you didn't crash! They have protected you from the rock projectiles being fired at you from the rear wheels of your competitors. Now, rest assured that you have been firing your share at them as well! (Let's hope they were wearing their Hap's leathers!) Now those dirty leathers need to be cleaned. Really, they do because even if the outsides are not dirty, the insides probably are from sweat and such. Leathers can be cleaned simply and easily. Simply put them in your washing machine! Separate them into two pieces (if they are two piece leathers of course!) and put them all alone in your washing machine on the GENTLE cycle - the most GENTLE cycle you can - and use ONLY COLD water! Again, GENTLE cycle, COLD water! DO NOT use DETERGENT of ANY KIND! Use only a liquid fabric softener in the water. When washing is done, remove the leathers IMMEDIATELY and lay them out flat on a sheet or beach sized towel. DO NOT allow any of the parts to overlap as that may transfer dye from one part to another. Allow the leathers to air dry. If any part of the suit has become snug, put the suit on while it is still damp and wear until suit is dry. Damp leather does tend to stretch slightly when it is wet. DO NOT dry your leathers in a dryer - EVER! DO THE FOLLOWING:

I have been cleaning my leathers this way for about 35 years now and it works perfectly! It is the best way to get them clean. I just cleaned Luke Gough's new leathers this way and it worked perfectly. Thanks! |
